Beyond the Blue

It is a feature of this book to introduce various looks of the sea through the distinguishing colors of each chapter. For example, the green color chip symbolizes a healthy sea forest, while the red color chip shows dark side of a sea filled with whale blood. Like this, the color chips introduced in each chapter are used to express the bright and dark side of the sea symbolically. This book was printed on soybean oil ink with low environmental pollution on 100g matte paper and thread bound to reduce bond usage.

The Big Book of Bullshit

The Big Book of Bullshit publication is a graphic exploration of truth, trust and lies and is divided into 3 visually juxtaposed chapters. The Truth: An illustrated essay on the psychology of deception. The Trust: a visual investigation on the notion trust and The Lies: An illustrated gallery of bullshit, all derived from anonymous confessions of deception. The book's visual layout takes inspiration from Jan Tschichold's 'Van de Graaf canon', used in book design to divide a page in pleasing proportions.

Josef Koudelka Gypsies

Josef Kudelka, a world-renowned photographer, has held his photo exhibitions in many countries around the world. After a long wait, a gypsy-themed Kudelka exhibition was finally held in Korea, and his photo book was made. As it was the first exhibition in Korea, there was a request from the author that he wanted to make a book so that he could feel Korea. Hangeul and Hanok are Korean letters and architecture that represent Korea. Text refers to the mind and architecture means the form. Inspired by these two elements, wanted to design a way to express Korea's characteristics.

Defy

During the process of designing the cover for Two Cheers for Anarchism. It provided a chance for designer to reconsider and to revalue the relation between oneself and social systems. By using certain symbolic objects into the design, not only to create a shared life experience towards Anarchism, but also to interpret a way of perspective of Taiwanese folk culture.

Pool

Designer redesigns the look of algae with the Chinese character, and combined with numbers of algae on the cover, leading readers to associate with the topic immediately. Doodles of various types of algae are coated with translucent varnish which creates senses of watery reflection. They extended through the whole cover to create an image of pond that full of algae. Also, a small matching quiz is designed on the inner cover for readers to get to know the names of algae.

Vicereines of Ireland

This book tells the untold story of a group of overlooked women in Irish history. The design process was integral to telling their story. The design aimed to capture the rich material world of these women, but also to reflect the humanity of their actions. The making of the book was a dialogue between the written content, the visual material discovered during the research, and current design practices. While its colour palette and end papers were inspired by original objects owned by the women, a contemporary design approach has resulted in a bold reimagining of the academic art history book.
